Want to kickstart your future with us?

Do you want to kickstart your future with us and make a difference for a sustainable and bright Sweden? As a trainee in the AMS unit, you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to the development of methods for working with voltage.

Our well-established trainee program offers you a unique opportunity to develop both in your future professional role and as a person over the course of a whole year.

Take on the energy challenge with us and apply for our trainee program 2026. With us, you will have a secure and dynamic workplace where you truly make a difference for a bright Sweden.

About the position

In the role of Trainee with us, you will be offered a structured program with mentorship and rotation opportunities within AMS and related areas. You will gain in-depth knowledge of high voltage safety, working environment, and risk management, and have the opportunity to develop towards a specialist role within AMS. The program provides access to courses, workshops, and networks within Svenska kraftnät and the industry.

AMS (Work with Voltage) and ANS (Work Near Voltage) are working methods that allow work to be done on the network without the need for power outages. This primarily involves maintenance work such as replacing worn-out components but can also include larger efforts such as replacing entire poles, renovating substations, etc.

After the trainee year, you will be offered a role as a technical engineer within AMS, with the opportunity to develop towards a specialist or technical project manager.

There are great development opportunities, and the challenges lie in quickly understanding advanced regulations and technical requirements, working in an environment with high demands for precision and risk awareness, and contributing to change work and the implementation of new methods.

As a trainee, you will belong to the AMS unit, which is a newly established unit in the Engineering Technology department, working with technical design, requirement specification, and development of Svenska kraftnät's overhead lines. The unit currently consists of a unit manager, a business developer, and a technical engineer. The plan is to recruit an additional 2-4 people during 2026-27.

About you

Essential requirements:

In your role as a trainee, you are an important ambassador and face of Svenska kraftnät. As a trainee with us, you will have a unique opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. During the trainee year, you will participate in training, mentoring, and practical experiences that prepare you for the future – while contributing new perspectives and energy to our operations.

You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working together with others to achieve common goals. You are goal-oriented and structured in your work approach, while also being relationship-oriented and building trust through attentiveness and respect.

We value a humble attitude towards learning – with us, it is perfectly okay not to have all the answers right away. The most important thing is that you have the desire to develop, are open to feedback, and use it as a tool to drive your own development forward. Although much will be prepared and structured for you during your trainee year, it is crucial that you take responsibility for your own work and development with us.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. Svenska kraftnät is a government authority, and it is important that you live up to the government value base.

When the program starts, you should have a degree from a university or college with a focus on electrical power, electrical engineering, energy technology, or another relevant technical field.

As we are looking for someone who is new in their career, we want you to have a maximum of two years of work experience, before or after your studies. Part-time jobs during your studies do not count.
